SSDs Market Share by Company
WD and Samsung enjoys their 50% market share over others SSD providers. All companies are innovating on these devices. This space is going to be more fierce. We should see more competitive pricing in future.
We review Samsung, WD, ADATA, Micron, Kingston and Gigabyte SSDs. They cover a variety of SSDs available in the market.
How does SSD fill data?
Both TLC and QLC SSDs are equipped with either DRAM cache or SLC cache or both. The DRAM increases the initial transfer speed. Then comes SLC cache with more space. It has lower speed than DRAM but significantly higher than base memory type. Post filing DRAM and SLC cache, SSD fill the base model viz. QLC or TLC or MLC. The MLC SSD don’t need SLC cache as they are very fast themselves.
We have done real-world testing of devices. That means we did prolong testing with data transfer above 100 GBs for each devices. Hence, the results might be different from what is advertised by companies or promoters. Most of SSDs we tested have TLC memory type. We have QLC and MLC memory types also in the review.
We have mentioned the cache size and speed for each of DRAM, SLC cache and the base memory module. Endurance and warranty is as per company website. All the cache size and DRAM size mentioned are based on our testing experience. The SLC or DRAM cache sizes are not mentioned by company themselves. The product mentioned here are most updated versions till August 2020.
Finally it’s here :-
